Web and new media work
Digital media work has been mostly in the area of websites and web tools. We have developed small and medium sized sites combining hand coded HTML with custom PHP/MySQL tools, and have developed a number of client sites based on Open Source Content Management Systems Mambo and Joomla. We are currently looking at Wordpress with off the peg or custom plugins as a more flexible alternative to full CMS sites especially for individuals and smaller organisations.
Consultation, training and education
It hardly needs to be said that all our work is about people, ideas and communication. Our priorities with client websites have always been to design sites that work and grow as the organisation and its audiences develop. Some of our website contracts have become long standing relationships with the client organisation allowing us to develop new features and ways of working with the client over several years. For this reason consultation and training are a very important part of our work and we can draw on many years in arts education, training and community development. As clients develop their own skills the working relationship changes to include more partnership and support, complementing our role in technical and design development.
Our preferred way of working is increasingly to put together a project team for a particular job. We can draw on a network of freelancers and independant organisations who all bring their own skills and resources. The Common Knowledge Collective has been particularly important in this respect.
